I offer suggestions to strengthen academic voice and clarify the message. With D.E., I work with a document across two exchanges. The first exchange is when I share comprehensive feedback and suggestions so you can address them; the second exchange is where I clean up any final revisions or lingering questions.

    WHAT DOES IT COST?

    $.08/word for one-time developmental editing projects. Receive a five-day turnaround on the first exchange (of papers 40 pages or less) or you’ll receive a 10% discount off job price. This includes all communication, exchanges, and multiple versions of your document to show you Track Changes vs. clean versions. Please expect longer turnaround times for dissertation-length documents.

  • WHAT IS APA EDITING?

    With APA editing, I ensure a document’s compliance with the APA 7 Style Guide. This includes addressing any issues with headings, references, and citations. I start with an initial conversation to determine your goals. I work with documents across two exchanges. The first exchange is where I send corrections along with queries regarding any missing information; the second exchange is where I clean up any final revisions and incorporate previously missing information.

  • WHAT IS DOCUMENT FORMATTING?

    Formatting large documents like a dissertation can be a time-consuming headache if you have not done it before. I format your dissertation or article in Microsoft Word using the Styles Feature to ensure properly formatted pagination, headers, and generate a Table of Contents that automatically updates to reflect changes in the document. I also ensure your document complies with your institution’s particular guidelines for dissertations or theses.

    Rates start at $2/page and may be discounted if combined with editing services.

  • WHAT IS SINGLE-SESSION COACHING?

    Sometimes, clients need just a single meeting to clarify their ideas and gain direction for a project before taking it further on their own. A single session gives you a thinking partner who spends time ahead of the call getting to know your particular writing project to make the most of our time together.

    WHAT DOES IT COST?

    One-time coaching call: $225/hour on Zoom. Includes review of a piece of writing and developmental editing on your first five pages.

  • WHAT IS COACHING CIRCLE?

    Clients who work with me on retainer gain an invested partner in their academic journey for a month, semester, or a year. This is the best value for securing the ongoing support people need to help them through a big project.

    When I coach with regular clients, I tailor a plan that works for them. Sometimes they want to meet regularly via Zoom or exchange drafts of an article or dissertation on a set schedule. Regardless, we come up with a plan that fits their life.

    WHAT DOES IT COST?

    Pay $897/month and receive varied and flexible support for any writing/editing services you need (up to 5 hours of time each month). Receive priority scheduling and turnaround times.

    For less than the cost of one credit hour of graduate tuition, gain a dedicated expert in academic writing. I will support your process with responsive expediency.

  • With developmental editing, I give feedback on any and all aspects of writing. I work with the overall organization and structure of your piece, strengthen academic voice and argumentation, address sentence structure, grammar, word choice, and more. APA editing is dedicated to ensuring compliance with the APA 7 Style Guide so this involves a stricter focus on compliance with those guidelines.

  • I will always show you all my suggested edits and changes using Word’s Track Changes feature or Google’s “Suggesting” mode. I do this so you’re always aware of how I’m working with your writing. The final decision is always up to you, since as the author, you have the AUTHORity to shape the piece as you wish.

  • My terminal degree and 24 years of experience in elementary and higher education allow me to consult with you at the highest level to address myriad aspects of writing and thinking challenges.

  • I have worked with academics and small business owners on various academic products, including journal articles, course papers, comprehensive exams, dissertations, thesis and capstone projects, portfolios, books, book chapters, syllabi, conference proposals/posters, CVs, cover letters, and lesson plans. If you need something else, please ask.

  • Although I am a content area expert in education and literacy fields, which enables me to make intelligent suggestions for your paper, I do not write content. As an ethical and caring educator, I am committed to helping you be academically successful by supporting your thought process. I also do not assess the validity of sources provided to me. I edit for consistency with APA style and may offer feedback if I see you making regular or obvious errors with sources; I do not evaluate whether your sources are acceptable for your particular program or course.

    I also will not check for plagiarism or AI-composed text, nor do I take responsibility for catching this. I treat writing as original to my clients and trust that quoted material is appropriately cited.

    I do not guarantee particular outcomes for an article or dissertation chapter; I will work with you to ensure it meets your goals, but you are the author and as such, you take ultimate responsibility for the success of your work.

    I am unable to accommodate poor planning or materials submitted at the last minute. If you’re working on a tight deadline, this will affect my ability to offer you a quality product.

  • I take all major credit cards and Venmo. I require a $250 down payment to schedule editing for first-time clients, which is applied to the job’s final balance. Ongoing work is invoiced monthly or upon successful completion of a one-time editing job. If a client needs to make payments over time, I am usually able to accommodate those requests.
